Can I really not do B.Tech in distance or online mode?

The regulator’s position has been consistent: engineering degrees require practical lab work and must be taught in-person. My Gulf employer said I need engineer visa category and that needs a degree. What counts?

Gulf labour offices (UAE MOHRE, Saudi HRSD, Qatar MADLSA, etc.) each define engineer category differently by trade. For mechanical/civil/electrical fields, a B.Tech from an AICTE-recognised institution almost always qualifies; a diploma does not. For broader technical supervisory roles, a UGC-DEB approved UG (BBA, BCA, BSc-IT) is often acceptable. We check your specific employer’s requirement.

What’s the difference between lateral entry B.Tech and regular B.Tech for visa purposes?

None, typically. Your certificate says B.Tech — it doesn’t mention lateral vs regular entry. What matters is (1) the institution is AICTE-approved, (2) the degree is recognised in its category by the target country, and (3) the certificate is properly attested.

Do I need to take an entrance exam for lateral-entry B.Tech?
